Crescent's Thoughts On: Anita Sarkeesian: Women As Background Decoration Part 2 Or What Was She Suppose To Be Talking About Again and What is With All of These Crappy Arguments!?

Killing Women is Sexist, Saving Women is Sexist, Let's face it the moment a Women is involved it is Sexist.
It's that fun time again. Okay, I am a little slow on the ball of this thing, but with Zoe Quinn's escapade and Anita's video happening ONE WEEK from each other, I wanted a little breather between covering both because, despite the views I get for my Anita posts, I want to keep this blog largely about two things: Video Games and Anime, and if I had to talk about this.... whatever you call it so soon after.... whatever you call Zoe Quinn's quagmire I was afraid that people will lose sight over what was important, like these women. You know that this is about VIDEO GAMES and how video games are FUN! So I reviewed Azure Striker Gunvolt because YES! But now that we have that little diversion, it's now time to talk about Anita Sarkeesian's latest series of cobbled together, barely coherent points about how no matter what, it's always sexist to have VIRTUALLY ANYTHING happen to a women in a game. Game Review: Azure Striker Gunvolt

2D Action/Platformer; 3DS eShop; Inti-Creates; 2014
Okay, first thing's first. Yes, I am aware of the fact that Anita Sarkeesian has released a new video, and yes I know just how stupid it is, but I'm not going to do a critique of that video yet. I just did a rant on Zoe Quinn and I would rather keep this blog about Video Games and Anime rather than the people are ruining them. And so I've decided to review a game which I was heavily anticipating since it was announced: Azure Striker Gunvolt. Was it worth the hype? Find out in my review.

Crescent's Thoughts On: Zoe Quinn or What the F* is Gaming Journalism Suppose to Be?

This was the nicest picture I could find... I'll try to find a better one later.
Okay, originally I didn't want to talk about this. Yes I do go off on Anita Sarkeesian every time she opens her mouth and says something that is clearly wrong, but this story is such a tangled web of sex, lies, and Video Game "Journalism" that it's hard to keep my level of journalistic integrity. And if you are giggling at me claiming to have journalistic integrity, then at least the speck of integrity I have is mountains more than most main gaming news sites. However, when I realized that the anime I was going to review had a second season to it, I couldn't do a half-assed job of reviewing it now, which means I'm left with this crap to deal with. I'm sorry for this cluster F* of a topic, but I have to get this off my chest.

Anime Review: Rideback

Did you expect me to write something witty or clever in this intro for my new review? Well the joke's on you because I'm never witty or clever, just long-winded and irritating. Yeah, nothing to report about my life, just that I'm still wishing I had more time to play games (I still need to beat Bravely Default) and I have increased the number of games that is sitting on my shelf untouched. Anyway, now it's time to review an anime about robot motorcycles and stupid evil world governments.

Game Review: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

2D Platformer; Game Boy/3DS Virtual Console; Nintendo; 1992
Yo ho. Not much to talk about this week, other than both of my brothers are out of town for the weekend so I'm all alone. You know what that means. NO PANTS TIME! Just kidding. But if you are wondering why I'm reviewing a really old game like Super Mario Land 2, well there are two reasons. 1) I got it for my 3DS as part of their Club Nintendo Gold Member Rewards. And 2) It's taking me a long time to beat the game I'm currently one. And that is for two reasons, 1) I only have so much time for myself thanks to having a job (which I still don't know if I'm still a temp or not because my 3 months are up, yet no one has stopped me from working). And 2) It's a pretty long RPG. I've pumped over 30 hours into the game and I'm still estimating that I'm only halfway through if that. Anyway, I'm reviewing Super Mario Land 2.

Anime Review: Robotics;Notes

Another week, another review (Unless I'm bitching about Anita Sarkeesian destroying gaming as we know it). However, in some positive news last month I garnered over 1,000 views. While it is great that I've reached the next tier of viewership, I have the sneaking suspicion that a good number of those views are bots from two particular sites. Why do I think this? Mainly because outside of "Google" I'm getting a large number of traffic from only two other sites, and they are blogs about diabetes and Halloween, sites with interests that I'm pretty sure don't overlap with my own. Now this has happened to me before, and while it doesn't do anything that harmful, it does make gauging my actual viewership a lot harder to determine. But who knows, maybe I did get 1,000 legit viewers, and if that keeps up I might put some ads on this guy and start getting a little bit of money. Anyway, it's time to get on with the review, this time about Robots.... and some notes.... and a semi-colon.

Crescent's Thoughts On: Anita Sarkeesian at GaymerX or How She Isn't Trying to Take Away Our Games, But Rather Chop Off Their Balls And Make Them Proud Of It.

"What About the Men? HA HA HA! They don't count."
Yo-ho. Not much have been going on with me, other than my temp job is about to expire and I haven't heard anything about whether or not I'm going to be hired on as a permanent employee or at the very least have my contract extended, and this Saturday is Testing for my Martial Arts School (which means I'm going to be very busy that weekend). Anyway, recently Anita "I don't play video games but I will tell you everything I think is wrong with them" Sarkeesian was on a panel at the GaymerX convention alone with two other women. The topic of discussion? Why it is so hard to be a woman on the internet that we constantly have to play the victim card to get guys to flock over and defend us. Or at least that's what I think the topic was, with Anita Sarkeesian nearly everything devolves into "Everything I don't like is sexist and if you disagree with me then you are a misogynist." However, to Anita's credit she at least acknowledges that there is criticism levied against her... Not the key word in that sentence is "acknowledges," not "address" or "refute" just "acknowledge." In a conversation "with pop culture" this is about the equivalent of only recognizing that there is someone standing across from you. She does NOTHING to counter the arguments that have been raised, and her attempts at refuting these criticism, I've notice, fall into one of two categories, Appeals to Ridicule and/or Strawman arguments. All culminating in the biggest Strawman representation of the opposing side, that we are afraid that they will "Take our video games away." This is going to be a long one.
